Reed Knives are used to prepare the reeds for wind instruments, particularly for the oboe and bassoon. They are also useful for general woodworkers and other artisans. Use them to rapidly flatten and remove small defects in the surface of your work leaving a very smooth surface. Our Single Bevel Reed Knives are a combination of hard high carbon white steel hand forged onto a soft steel blank. After heat treatment and hardening, a 45° bevel is ground and fully sharpened. Blade length is 4-7/8˝ and overall length is 6-1/4˝. Blade width is 5/8˝. and blade thickness is 3/16˝. Instructions for care and use are included.
