Details

Sumitsubo are traditionally associated with the Daiku (master Japanese carpenter). They use a fine silk line saturated with ink to snap-down a thin, precise line. Our Sumitsubo are hand carved in the old style from Keyaki (a Japanese wood similar to Elm), valued for its grain pattern and widely used in Japanese furniture. They are a thing of beauty, as well as an ancient tool. Each ink line comes with silk filler, silk line, and bottle of Sumi (black ink.) This Sumitsubo is 7-1/4" long, 3" wide and 2-1/2" tall. It has a 25ft long line. Replacement pins are available #156130.
