Details
The main difference between white paper and blue paper steel is the ability of the white to take a very fine edge. Except for the two large roughing gouges, our violin tools are now the made of the finest white paper steel, hand-forged and hardened to Rc64-65 by Master Blacksmith Seigen. Each tool is individually forged and goes through numerous operations before being fitted with the finest quality Japanese Red Oak handle.
The bent or cranked neck on this gouge permits the blade to lay flat on your work with clearance for your knuckles. This tool is great for grounding and cleaning long grooves or joints like rabbets. Tool is razor-sharp, with approximately a #5 sweep. Blade length is 2-1/4", with an overall length of 10-3/4".
