Details

Chacate Preto (Guibourtia conjugata) is native to South Africa. Considered a precious wood in Africa, the heartwood is dark brown, nearly black, with lighter honey brown longitudinal streaks and sometimes a slightly greenish color. The wood is moderately lustrous with an interlocked grain and fine texture. This type of wood has been compared to African Blackwood, but it is only half the price! The wood is very sturdy but not as heavy as African Blackwood. Typical uses include billiard cues, flutes, and knife handles.

Due to the nature of wood movement, shrinkage and expansion are possible. Please measure each piece carefully before starting any project.

Wood is a product of nature, and as such, no two pieces are alike to start with, while the same wood growing in different locales can vary greatly even though it is the exact same species.
