Our Finishing and Polishing Waterstones will give a finer polish and sharper edge than will any oil stone (either Arkansas or synthetic) or Western made ceramic stone. And, they will do so in half the time. Our waterstones are manufactured from very fine abrasives in a matrix which absorbs water. As the tool is honed, a "mud" forms on the stone. It is this mud that creates the mirror polishing effect of the stone. For best results, be sure to use a Nagura Stone. Full instructions are included with each stone. Our Arashiyama Polishing Stone is made with 6000 grit abrasive fused into a ceramic matrix. The particular advantage of this stone is its large size (largest of any finish or polishing stone) and fast polishing action. in fact, in the past we called this a 7000 grit stone because it worked much better than any other 6000 grit on the market. Because the wear rate of Ceramic Stones is slower than other water stones, less dressing is needed to keep it flat. The large surface area makes it ideal for large plane irons. Size: 8-7/8" x 3-7/8" x 1-5/16".
