Product Information:

The main difference between white paper and blue paper steel is the ability of the white to take a very fine edge. Except for the two large roughing gouges, our violin tools are now the made of the finest white paper steel, hand-forged and hardened to Rc64-65 by Master Blacksmith Seigen. Each tool is individually forged and goes through numerous operations before being fitted with the finest quality Japanese Red Oak handle.

The unique feature of a Fishtail Incannel Gouge is that the blade tapers from the cutting edge to the shank, permitting greater flexibility and control when working in tight areas. Another plus: the incannel bevel allows you to make concave perpendicular scribing cuts, which are difficult to do with normal Incannel Gouges. Tool is razor-sharp, with approximately a #5 sweep. Blade length is 2-1/2", with an overall length of 9-1/4".
