Item #155848

Product Information:

Former Product Id: 04.177.02

Our Tamamoku Mokume Woodworking Knife is made by master plane maker Yoshihiro Yamamoto using a special high carbon #1 blue steel Aogami Hagane with added tungsten. He hand forges the knife blank multiple times creating microscopic particles evenly distributed throughout the steel. This process ensures that a very sharp, long lasting edge can be obtained. The steel blank is then forge laminated on to a Kamaji blank, a soft wrought iron material produced more than 150 years ago. Mr. Yamamoto processes the resulting knife blade to reveal the uniqueMokume pattern. The blade is then heat treated and hardened to RC 66. Finally it is sharpened to a razor edge and is shipped in a paper box. Blade width is 1˝, and overall length is 7½˝.
