Our 2½˝ Scratch Awl comes with a beautifully turned Rosewood handle, brass ferrule and high carbon tool steel blade. It is made in England. Scratch Awls were traditionally used to mark out dovetails and other joinery work. The round-blade awl has a 2-1/2" turned steel blade and needle-sharp tip, with an overall length of 5-1/4". Use it to scratch measuring lines or to punch nail or screw holes in soft woods. Rotate the blade as you push it to bore deep pilot holes.
