This enables most of the impact to be transferred to the chisel. After initial forging, each hammer head is lightly hand filed to perfect its balance and leave a unique hand hammered surface. One end is finished flat and the other has a slight convex shape. Mr. Makato Aida follows in the footsteps of his father who began specializing in hammers 50 years ago. He continues to refine his Hi-Zukuri forging techniques to produce the very best quality hammers. These hammers are highly sought after by master craftsmen all over Japan.
