He has on occasion been selected to supply special cerermonial knives to the imperial family. Dojo blades are made by forge welding a core of high-carbon #1 blue steel sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel. Blue Steel is a complex steel noted for its ability to hold an exceedingly sharp, long lasting edge. The blade is tempered to Rc62. The handle is a lamination of very thin slices of resin impregnated wood and is impervious to water for a lifetime of use. Blade length is 6¾" and overall length is 10¾". Each blade comes razor sharp with instructions for maintaining this edge.
