Our Special Quality Kanaban are used with a fine abrasive to flatten and polish the area directly behind the cutting edge on the backs of Japanese plane irons and chisels. They have also proven effective for flattening the backs of Western style chisels and plane irons. Our Kanaban are made by the highly regarded plane maker Tsunesaburo and are milled dead flat on both sides. The regular size is 10-1/4" x 2-3/8" x 7/16". A one ounce bottle of #1000 grit #1 quality Green Carbide Abrasive is included.

In addition to their normal use, Kanaban can be combined with our 3M Micro Abrasive Films to flatten water stones and plane soles.
