The Nonpareil Blue Stone will remove scratches left from stones between #800 to #2000 grit and will rapidly establish an initial polish. Many woodworkers will find this polish suitable for purposes where the keenest edge possible is not required. It is also suitable for touching-up an edge that does not require extensive work. Instructions are included. Size is 8-1/4˝ x 2-15/16˝ x 2˝.The sides and bottom should be painted with several coats of weather resistant lacquer or varnish. Our waterstones are manufactured from a variety of fused abrasives which create a porous, friable surface. This is important since, as the tool is rubbed on the stone, the particles of abrasive are rounded and dulled. Unfortunately with oil stones, the particles are tightly bound together, producing a dulled surface which greatly reduces cutting speed. On the other hand, the waterstones' porous, friable surface keeps fresh, sharp abrasive constantly exposed on the surface, thus accelerating and optimizing the cutting effect.
