The plane iron is hand forged in the small town of Yoita by Mr. Kobayashi. 15 years ago, upon the retirement of his father, he became a master blacksmith. This followed 25 years of apprenticeship and training as a journeyman.

The plane body is hand made and the blade set by Tsuneo Takahashi located in Sanjo City. Mr. Takahashi began as an apprentice in his family business 40 years ago. He is now considered a master in the manufacture of blade bodies. Much of the wood he uses was accumulated by his father and grandfather.
