Our Compas Plane is made from top quality Japanese White Oak. The razor sharp blade is carefully fitted by hand. The AA quality blades are a hand-forged lamination of wrought iron and Shirogami Hagane (high carbon white steel). Each blade is individually tempered to Rockwell c65ø to ensure a long lasting edge. Body width is 2¼˝, blade width is 1½˝ and overall body length is 6˝. The Compass Planes have a convex shaped sole and are used to plane concave surfaces, such as the inside of barrels and coopered doors.
