Our #1 Blue Steel Plane Iron gives you the opportunity to obtain superior results with your Record #6 and #7 Bench planes. Our laminated plane iron is 5/64" thick and will take a sharper edge and hold it longer than those of any original manufacturer. It is a forge lamination of Yasuki #1 Blue Steel and soft steel by Tsunesaburo, master of bladesmiths. It is hardened to Rc66. #1 Blue steel, noted for its durability, is the most widely used material for the production of professional quality Japanese plane irons. The iron comes well sharpen but should be honed for best performance. It is 2-3/8" (60mm) wide by 7-3/4" long.
