1˝ Bachi Nomi Chisel - These chisels are the original shape of Japanese chisels, first made many centuries ago. Today, they are used extensively for cutting and trimming butterfly mortises. They are also superb for cutting dovetails, and the wood-carver will find they make an excellent fishtail chisel. The laminated blades are hand-forged from best quality "white steel;" laminated to wrought iron. The master of blacksmiths Shizego Matsumura individually tempers each chisel to Rockwell c64°. The Akagashi (Japanese Red Oak) handles are double hooped for a lifetime of hard use. Each chisel comes well sharpened, with instructions for maintaining a razor edge. Their overall length is 8½˝ and blade length is 2½˝.
